A little update:

In the couple of years since this odyssey, there have been some changes to the players' lives.

Cheryl changed companies and moved to Milwaukee.  Then she moved back to Detroit.

Juan and Susan bought a house soon after this trip and have had a baby girl (6/7/1999). and a baby boy (9/3/2000) This is Amalia, Nick, and their dad. Maybe they'll all grow up to enjoy boating. (Juan may wind up with a crew).  Susan delivered a little boy on October 25, 2002,  so the Juan crew is getting bigger.

I'm pretty much the same, here's a picture of me at my son's wedding (I'm the one on the right. J)  Unfortunately, the photo has lasted longer than the marriage.  (My son was divorced in September 2002)

If you'd like more details, some encouragement, info on how we outfitted this 21' open boat, or complaints, please e-mail me. mjgolip@home.msen.com  We learned that anyone could take this cruise in a 34 footer, one idiot we met couldn't do it in a 65 footer, but the challenge of a trip like this in a small boat can't be beat.
